Eight-year-old Kimby Zweifel places a chair in the Red Room of a handcarved miniature White House created by her parents, John and Jan Zweifel of Orlando, Fla. The 15-room model on display through Sunday in the Yorktown Shopping Center in Lombard is the product of an effort that began in 1961. According to the Zweifels, more than 200,000 man hours and $350,000 have gone into the miniature. A former Evanston resident, Zweifel did his early research for the project in the Chicago Pub-lic Library. And the work goes on. Each time the curator at the real White House moves or replaces a piece of furniture, so do the Zweifels. Tribune Photo by James Mayo
